Smythson Virginia Shoulder Bag in Cassis

storedandadored designer handbag blog

Smythson's Virginia Shoulder Bag was released in 2010 (during Samantha Cameron's reign as creative director of Smythson) and had a good reception, including a recommendation as a must-have autumn/winter accessory by Elle UK. Smythson's Virginia Bag was available in two styles; a shoulder bag (pictured here) and a strap-free clutch version. Both of these models were available in a range of colours, including black, grey, cream and the deep raspberry colour that is pictured above and below.

The minimalist use of hardware on the exterior of the Virginia Shoulder Bag helps to emphasise the bag's beautiful leather detailing. The ruche detail on the bag's front flap was a Smythson design theme back in 2010, with leather ruching also making an appearance on Smythson's incredibly popular Nancy handbags. The interior of this particular Virginia Shoulder Bag is lined in purple satin.

Personally, I find the Virginia to be a particularly elegant design in a very practical size. The flap is secure but still allows for easy access on-the-go, and the bag easily fits all of the typical everyday essentials.

Smythson's Virginia Shoulder Bag originally retailed for approximately £895, and the exact bag featured in this blog post is available to buy today in very good pre-loved condition for just £195.
